Let’s create a dye bath from ground walnut shells.
First you need to strain the shells from the dye bath. I used a jar and a cheesecloth to strain the liquid from the ground shells.
As I poured off the liquid I was amazed to see a coffee colour brown.
I will reuse these grounds but first I need to let my cheviot combed top and silk hankies dry so I can show you the results. I did three modifiers: cream of tartar, iron, soda ash, and citric acid. The soda ash had the biggest wow factor and the cream of tartar and citric acid were almost identical.
